New Cadillac Vehicles Overview
The luxury arm of GM, Cadillac has trimmed its offerings for 2012 (the STS and DTS have been discontinued).Remaining are the CTS, CTS-V performance car, SRX crossover, and several varieties of the Escalade full-size SUV.
The flexible CTS is available in three forms: sedan, coupe, and sport wagon. Sedan and sport wagon versions of the CTS seat five while the coupe can fit up to four passengers. For 2012 the CTS’ V-6 gets a power boost up to 318-hp (an increase of 14 from last year) and a new grille up front. Bluetooth® connectivity is also a standard feature now on all trims.
There are also CTS-V versions of each body style, which get a 556-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood and various suspension upgrades for maximum performance.
If you need more utility, Cadillac also offers a five-seat midsize crossover, the SRX. There are a few exciting changes in 2012 for the SRX, including a new engine. A 308-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 replaces the old 3.0-liter V-6 under the hood of each SRX. All-wheel drive remains optional.
There are few vehicles out there with a name that carries as much weight as the Escalade. Cadillac now makes four different iterations of the full-size SUV: the standard Escalade, the larger Escalade ESV, the Escalade EXT sport utility truck, and the efficient Escalade Hybrid.
Inside, there is seating for seven or eight passengers (with the optional second row bench). Standard features include a navigation system, tri-zone automatic climate control, and leather upholstery which help to make the Escalade one of the most luxurious cars around.
The Escalade ESV has a wheelbase that’s 14-inches longer than a normal Escalade which adds legroom to the third-row and nearly triples the cargo capacity behind it.
For even more flexibility, the five-seat Escalade EXT takes out the third row and instead features a cargo bed out back. The midgate even flips down expanding the usable cargo area into a full eight-foot bed for even more storage.
The Escalade Hybrid exists for those who want full-size luxury but don’t want to pay full-size prices at the pump; gas mileage jumps up to 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
